It’s one of the most entertaining events at the NFL’s Pro Bowl Skill’s Showdown, the Epic Pro Bowl Dodgeball game between AFC and NFC players. The last event of the evening, the dodgeball game would decide the overall champion for the entire event.
The 7 vs 7 game was captained by former NFL players Reggie Wayne and Rod Woodson for the AFC and Luke Kuechly and Jason Witten for the NFC.
Patriots QB Mac Jones and Chargers S Derwin James, playing for the AFC, got out early. The Dallas Cowboy’s celebrated rookie linebacker Micah Parsons, who had already shocked the Chief’s Tyreek Hill in the NFL’s Fastest Man Race, was throwing some serious heat before getting caught for an out. The NFC’s Trevon Diggs (Dallas Cowboys) eliminated his brother, Stefon Diggs (Buffalo Bills), before being tagged by Nick Chubb (Cleveland Browns). The game would come down to a faceoff between the NFC’s Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings) and Chubb. Like an Old West duel, the opponents sized each other up. Jefferson drew/threw first, missing and then quickly retreating. Chubb responded with his own well-aimed volley, but Jefferson, in the process of dodging the ball, had to make a one-handed grab to avoid the hit to win the game. Jefferson punted the ball into oblivion.
Overall, it was a fun event to watch for the real players of competitive dodgeball. The NFL players showed off their athletic prowess with some strong throws and great catches. And they even showed some teamwork by throwing together to get a timely out.
