Major League Dodgeball Delivers Excitement at Dodge Duel 2v2

Major League Dodgeball’s Dodge Duel 2v2 tournament delivers fast-paced action, family champions, and dramatic finishes across all divisions.

Major League Dodgeball, in partnership with Dallas Dodgeball, brought fast-paced action and dramatic finishes to the Fowling Warehouse in Plano, Texas on Saturday, September 20th, 2025 during its Dodge Duel 2v2 tournament, a competition that highlighted the intensity and unpredictability of the two-player format.

The 2v2 structure offers little margin for error, requiring quick reactions, precise throws, and calculated teamwork. Matches are often decided in seconds by a single catch or throw, and the event delivered numerous end-game moments that kept players and spectators on edge.

Family Ties Take Center Stage

Family duos made the biggest impact of the day. In the Open Pro Division, Elijah Hashimoto—returning to throwing right-handed after injury—paired with his mother, Kathleen Martinez, to claim the championship. The pair displayed poise under pressure and strong chemistry throughout the bracket. Martinez also competed in the Women’s Division, teaming with her daughter, Eden Martinez, to capture first place. The family success theme continued in the Semi-Pro Division, where brothers-in-law Dorian Johnson and Drew Formichella secured first place. Their consistent play pushed them past a competitive field to the top of the podium. Adding to the day’s highlights, team Cori Clark and Annagabriella Alfonsi secured medals in two brackets: second place in Open Semi-Pro and third in the Women’s Division.

Outsiders team players made a strong statement at the tournament, sweeping the Open Pro Division podium and capturing first place in the Women’s Division. Their presence at the top of the standings underscored the team’s depth and dominance across brackets. But rising stars in the local dodgeball scene kept the Outsiders on their toes, forcing tight matches and testing their composure. There were no easy matches on this day.

Community and Competition

Hosted in partnership with Dallas Dodgeball, the tournament drew players from across the region’s Dodgeball community. Friends, family members, and local supporters helped ensure the event ran smoothly, creating an atmosphere that balanced competitive intensity with community spirit.

Organizers noted that the 2v2 format, while smaller in team size, creates some of the sport’s most compelling moments. With fewer players on the court, every decision carries extra weight, giving athletes the chance to make highlight-reel plays that define the outcome of a match.
